Ian Weatherhead British, b. 1932
Born in 1932 in Leeds of Scottish parents, Ian Weatherhead was educated in both Yorkshire and Scotland. He was a pupil of the stained glass artist and watercolourist William Wilson who, like John Piper and Raoul Dufy, left a lasting impression. Studying architecture at University College, London, Ian worked as an architect until the late 1980s when he turned to painting full-time.
Architecture, humour and a quirky perspective are strong themes running through Ian's work, which often depict social and sporting events, alongside notable landmarks and features of land and seascapes.
