Stuart Buchanan British, b. 1970
Born in 1970, Stuart studied at Glasgow School of Art between 1988 and 1992. Having won the Patrick Allen Scholarship in the summer of 1991 he was invited to become artist in residence in the autumn of 1998.
Recent portrait commissions for the Association of Scottish Sheriffs and Glasgow, Employment tribunal combined with the exhibition list below show him to be a promising full-time painter.
"I was born and brought up in Glasgow. I am married to a Glasgow girl, Frances, who has practiced Law as long as I have painted. We moved to Edinburgh after we were students and lived there long enough to get hitched before returning to Glasgow where we've lived in the West End, since (coincidentally at the same Glasgow address as the Scottish Colourist J.D. Fergusson.) From Edinburgh I leased my first studio and developed a working practice that has evolved into a Monday-Friday, 9-5. I am a city boy during the week, but head for the big country at weekend, walking, fishing and bird watching."
