About
Thompson’s Gallery London proudly presents the debut solo exhibition of mixed media painter Tyrone Deans.
Deans is a chartered architect balancing a fine art practice from various studios between Jamaica, Sweden and England. Born into a Jamaican family, Deans' work is deliberately material and inquisitive, exploring concepts of identity, culture, and class with every layer applied to the surface. Deans wields mixed media purposefully, integrating elements such as Ghanaian Kente fabric and found historical documents to drive conversation beyond formalism. As colourful as they are complex, Deans’ paintings are inviting and open-ended by nature acknowledging that history is formed by both those who have power and those without, and that both sides are of equal importance to remember and understand.
