From Winter to Summer

Andrew Tozer: A Year in Cornwall
We are thrilled to present the latest solo exhibition by Andrew Tozer, A Year in Cornwall, in our London gallery. In 24 new pictures, Tozer takes us on a journey across the Cornish landscape and through the four seasons, from the long wintry nights to the  sun-kissed summer days.

In this two-part post, we recount a year as lived through Tozer's wondrous painitngs.

Part I: From Winter through SPring

Our adventure begins on a serene farm, coated in a fresh dusting of snow. In the distance sits a charming home, warmly lit from within as if by candlelight. From an unseen wood fire, a plume of smoke rises through the chimney, puffing and unfurling into the crisp winter air.

Later in winter, perhaps on the same farm, a woman and child feed chickens outside. Although the snow has long since melted, the tree remains bare and the sun sits well in the distance, indicating that we still have some time to go before spring breaks through.

The wintry moonlight bathes these stables in a bluish glow.

Eventually, spring arrives in Cornwall, and our figures take to a blossoming garden to enjoy the longer, warmer days.

Andrew Tozer: A Year in Cornwall runs through 8 April at Thompson's Gallery London (3 Seymour Place, W1H 5AZ). For more information, please contact the gallery.
