Thompsons Gallery London presents a new exhibition, A Broad Brushstroke: 25 years of Fullarton, open to the public from 15th November to 2nd December. In it, we celebrate 25 years of working with acclaimed Scottish Colourist, James Fullarton. Much has happened in a quarter of a century, but is is undeniable that Fullarton's artistic appeal has only widened during this time. Within 25 years, Fullarton's hometown of Glasgow has skyrocketed to become a dominant force in the UK art scene, and Fullarton's career has not failed to match that trajectory. He studied at the Glasgow school of art in the 1960s under celebrated artists David Donaldson and Alexander (Sandy) Goudie, who became a significant influence on his artistic style.

James Fullarton is a regular exhibitor at the Royal Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts, has shown at the Royal Scottish Academy, lectured for the Scottish Arts Council, and won several prizes including the David Cargil and Britoil Awards.
As always, Fullarton draws inspiration for his paintings from the world around him. His expressive brustrokes and colourful palette create images of a world that we all want to be a part of, reflecting beauty in even the most simple of compositions. Based in Straiton, Scotland, Fullarton can be found exploring the locales around him, painting outside in the weather. Looking at his paintings, one can he has favorite locations, leading to his many compositions of cattle and harbour scenes.
